Dear Irrigators,
We would like to update you on the water supply level and Snow Pack data as of December 23, 2025 based on recent information obtained from Alberta Environment.
Current storage levels within the District’s reservoirs remain at ~246,000 acre-feet, which represents 78% of the Full Supply Level (FSL). The Headworks reservoirs, comprised of the Waterton , St. Mary and Milk River Ridge reservoirs, are sitting at a combined storage of ~299,000 acre-feet. The current total of all of the storage in the St. Mary Project reservoirs is ~545,000 acre-feet or 69% of FSL.
Below is the most recent Snowpack data supplied by Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, for Snow Pillows at Akamina, Flattop and Many Glacier.

The Akamina snow pillow is showing slightly lower Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) compared to this time last year, but has made significant gains since the November 28, 2025 update.

SWE at Flat Top is currently above the upper quartile.

Many Glacier is below the lower quartile but has made slight gains since the November update.
Please note that the majority of the snowfall is not typically received until February – April. Up-to-date Snow Pillow information can be monitored at Alberta Environment and Parks. We will continue to closely monitor the snowpack and precipitation levels in the coming months and provide monthly updates.
SMRID Shops and Offices will close at 12:00 pm on December 24, 2025 and reopen on January 5, 2026.
