Dear Irrigators,
As many of you have seen from media reports, there was a siphon collapse near Babb, Montana on the morning of June 17, 2024. This infrastructure failure will impact the water that is diverted from the St. Mary River to the Milk River. This incident will not affect our ability to convey water to users and will not have a negative effect on the amount of water available to the SMRID. It is too early to state how this development will impact our water allocation.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and discuss the impact at our Board of Directors meeting scheduled for June 26, 2024.
