Water Coordinator Intern (Central Division – Taber area)

1 Full time Seasonal Position

The Water Coordinator is that person you see, operating the canals and pipelines that are used to deliver water to Irrigators and others in our SMRID system.

We have one position available:
· Taber area, reporting to our Taber Shop.
Residency within 60 km is a requirement.

Responsibilities and Duties

These are full-time seasonal positions and will be internships with a predetermined training program. The successful candidate will assist a Senior Water Coordinator in the operation of the SMRID District canals / buried pipeline systems in order to deliver water for irrigation and other uses.

Duties include taking water orders, record keeping, and system maintenance within a specific unit of the Irrigation District. On-call status during the months of April to October is required as is working outdoors in all weather conditions and working extended hours in emergency conditions such as during adverse weather.
Pay will reflect work experience and education
Off Water season work includes maintenance and pipeline construction.

Qualifications and Skills

Computer skills are a definite asset, as well as good interpersonal skills since this position requires considerable liaison with the water users.
Valid and Clean Class 5 Driver’s License
Ability to withstand adverse weather conditions as this position will be outdoors.
